Navaratri Festival Parade in Bangkok 2012

Navratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi are worshiped. The festival is being held in Bangkok at the moment from 14-24 October 2012. This takes place at various Indian temples around Bangkok.  Although Little India is in the Pahurat area, to the west of Chinatown, the main Hindu temple is Sri Maha Marianman Temple (Wat Khaek) on Silom Road. It is here where the parade will take place on Wednesday 24th October 2012 from 7:30 p.m.

I have marked the parade route on the map above. It is best to come early as Silom Road inbound, Narithawat Road, Sathorn North Road and  Surasak Road will be closed. The best way to go would be by skytrain as BTS Chong Nonsi is on the parade route. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area, then I can recommend the Lub D Silom Hostel on Decho Road. It is only a short walk away from the main action. The staff are very helpful and will answer any questions that you may have.
