Free Boat Service on Saen Saeb Canal to Minburi

IMG_6626

It hasn’t received much exposure in the English press, but there is now a free boat service along Saen Saeb Canal in Bangkok from Wat Sri Bunruang to Minburi Market. This is handy if you want to visit Kwan Riam Floating Market. Unlike the rest of Saen Saeb Canal, from Phan Fah/Pratunam to Wat Sri Bunruang, this section of the canal is run by the BMA. So, if you want to go from Central Bangkok to the floating market, you will need to change at Wat Sri Bunruang. The times of running are more for commuters as it is only 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. During the week, boats go every 15 minutes and at the weekend every half hour. There are 14 piers along the route though they will only stop if you flag the boat down. I rode from Wat Sri Bunruang all the way to Minburi and it took about 45 minutes. The service is free until 13 August 2013. Click here for my map of Saen Saeb Canal.
